Leading by Design

Seminars and Classes

Leading by Design: Follow Jesus’ example in leading twelve types of people  is structured to be used in churches and other organizations to assist readers in understanding the ways in which they may practice Christ-centered management principles in their daily lives.

The options for use of the book and related materials include:

  • Forming an informal “book circle” among friends who take turns in leading discussion of the chapters.   Discussion guides may be downloaded, free of charge. Books may be purchased according to a volume discount.
  • Using the book in Sunday School classes or small groups within churches, covering one chapter per week.   Again, discussion (and teaching) guides may be downloaded, free of charge. Books may be purchased according to a volume discount.
  • Hosting Dr. Westmoreland for a business persons’ luncheon or other special event, in which he speaks about working with one or two of the different types of people.   Books might be provided as gifts to the attendees (purchased according to a volume discount), or they might be available for purchase following the presentation.
  • Scheduling a one-day Leading by Design seminar. Groups that might utilize the seminars include deacons and business people.   Although the format is somewhat flexible, the following schedule is recommended:
8:45 a.m Registration and Coffee
9:00 a.m. Session I
Break
10:00 a.m Session II
Break
11:00 a.m Session III
Noon Box Lunch on Site
12:30 p.m. Session IV

1:30 p.m Session V
Break
2:30 p.m Session VI
3:30 p.m. Adjourn

The cost of materials (book and professionally-designed workbook) is $35 per person, plus shipping. In addition, if a presenter is utilized from within the church or business, a complete teaching notebook, including detailed lecture notes and a PowerPoint presentation, is available for $99. A DVD of film clips will be furnished free of charge.   A rule of thumb, assuming 25 participants, would be that $55 per person would cover the cost of the book, the workbook, lunch, coffee breaks, and the presenter’s materials.

If the church or business wishes to engage a presenter from Ouachita, an honorarium for the day’s activity would be appropriate. (An exception is the case of scheduled appearances by Dr. Westmoreland, who does not accept honoraria.)
